Some Words on Karma
June 1996 The Law of Karma is not a law of retribution only, it is the Law of Cause and Effect. It is a cosmically neutral energy that ensures the necessary working out of debts and rewards from life to life, thus teaching the soul and its expression, the personality, the lessons needed to distinguish between right and wrong. As the Law of Karma is a Law Divine, it is totally just and loving in its intent. The Law should not be feared, for it only corrects imbalances in physical and cosmic life. The reason why many fear the Law of Karma is because they are not able to escape the effects of their actions – whether from past embodiments or the present embodiment. As God is Justice and Love, God’s laws are given out of love to create harmony and balance not only in cosmos, in planets and stars, but also in the universe which lies in all living human beings, whose bodies make up this inner universe analogous to the greater universe around them. A person’s actions must be accounted for upon the physical plane as well as on other planes, hence the working out of the Law of Karma. Wherever the person might be moving, as he or she does onto planets and stars, in different appearances – physical selves, astral, mental or soul and Spirit beings – the debts and rewards follow, until all ‘accounts’ are cleared up. Some people discard the Law of Karma as a law not functioning on Earth as it has in the past; some say the Law of Karma can be avoided. This is ignorance speaking. People who constantly transgress the Laws of God – and thereby incur a long ‘account’ which they would like to avoid being accounted for – think so, but that does not make the statements true. When has wishful thinking interfered with the working out of God’s Laws or Plans? The fact is that the Law of Karma creates in each embodiment certain patterns in a person’s life. These patterns give the person the opportunity to settle the scores of past and present actions and learn from the lessons involved to be a good and righteous human being who eventually lives in peace with fellow beings and with the natural environment. A person can learn to deal consciously with the karma and, by fully cooperating with the karmic pattern, to neutralise a great deal of karma in one life. Supporting the work of Christ and surrendering one’s life to Him neutralises many negative debts and incurs much good karma and rewards. It should be remembered that we (as souls) live many lives; would it not be rewarding to have one’s future lives in mind and try to change them for the better so as not to fear coming life patterns? The truth is the following: you have to learn to live by God’s Laws, for doing so makes you free of negative karmic burdens, and you become creator of your own destiny. |
